Residents accounted for 40 of those cases and nonresidents for 14, according to state data. Five new hospitalizations and no new deaths were reported.<\/p>\n<p>So far, there have been 92 Alaskans hospitalized and 17 who died with COVID-19, according to state data. Twenty-five people are currently COVID-19 positive and hospitalized<\/p>\n<p>Monday, the state had reported 71 cases. Those new cases came on the heels of respective single-day increases of 77 and 116 on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><ins> [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/coronavirus-cases-continue-climb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 case count continues climb<\/a>]<\/ins><\/p>\n<p>During a Monday evening news conference, state officials, including Gov. Mike Dunleavy, encouraged Alaskans to practice social distancing and to wear face coverings when distancing is difficult or impossible in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>A new case was reported Tuesday for City and Borough of Juneau, according to state data.
