Alaska reported Thursday 59 new COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n

Of the newly reported cases, 56 are resident cases and three are nonresident. The state reported no new deaths and one new hospitalization.<\/p>\n

The majority of new cases, 36, were reported in Anchorage, according to Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. The remaining resident cases were spread among 14 other communities with no more than two cases reported for any one community.<\/p>\n

City and Borough of Juneau; however, reported nine new COVID-19 cases. State data typically lags about a day behind city data.<\/p>\n

Five of the cases reported by the city are resident cases and four are nonresidents, according to a news release from the city.<\/p>\n

Of the resident cases, Public Health attributes one of the cases to secondary transmission, which means contact with a known case, one to travel and three are under investigation, according to the city. For nonresident cases, two are in the seafood industry, one is a tourist and one is in the capital city as a visitor.<\/p>\n

So far, 96 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, according to city data. Eight cases are still active.<\/p>\n

There have been 68 nonresident cases in Juneau. Of those eight active.<\/p>\n

Statewide, there have been more than 4,000 cumulative cases with 3,449 residents and 734 nonresidents testing positive for COVID-19, according to state data.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
