Lisa Murkowski for re-election.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican is running against independent Margaret Stock, Libertarian Joe Miller, Democrat Ray Metcalf and a suite of independents.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was announced Tuesday in Fairbanks after a meeting of the Central Council\u2019s executive council, which had traveled north for the Alaska Federation of Natives annual conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator Murkowski has been an effective member of Congress,\u201d the Executive Council said in a statement. \u201cHer commitment to Alaska Natives and rural communities has been proven through her continued efforts to advance the economic, social, and cultural wellbeing of Alaska Natives.
