This year’s election will feature multi-language “I Voted” stickers that commemorate the struggle for women’s suffrage and celebrate diversity, Alaska Division of Elections announced.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

The unique stickers were designed by Anchorage-based artist Barbara Lavallee<\/a> and feature a stylized depiction of the diversity, strength and power of Alaskan women, the division said in a news release. The stickers are a follow-up to a 2018 sticker project that featured artwork f<\/a>r<\/a>om<\/a> Juneau artist Pat Race. <\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

“I’ve always loved the artwork of Barbara Lavallee. So, we reached out to Ms. Lavallee and never in my wildest dreams did I think she would say yes but she did,” said Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai in the release. “The division is proud of the stickers and hope that the voters of Alaska enjoy them.”<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

The stickers will be available in English, Spanish, Koyukon, Gwich’in, Aleut, Tagalog, Alutiiq, Northern Inupiaq, Nunivak Cup’ig and Yup’ik, according to the division. Digital stickers will be available on the division website for download so all voters who opt to participate by mail can access the stickers.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

“I loved working on this project,” Lavallee said in a news release. “What a treat for me to represent Alaska and the 100th year of women’s right to vote. I chose to do a series of images to show the people of different areas of the state as well as urban voters. Be sure to go to the polls, vote and get your sticker.”<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Election Day is Nov. 3. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Early voting opens on Monday, Oct. 19, according to Division of Elections. Absentee by-mail ballots, which have already been sent to voters, must be post marked by Election Day.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
