Don Young, R-Alaska, confirmed via Twitter on Thursday that he had tested positive for the coronavirus.<\/p>\n The 87-year-old Young recently ran for reelection to the position of state representative for Alaska, a position he has held uninterrupted for 47 years. Young won reelection Wednesday <\/a>over repeat challenger Alyse Galvin, according to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n In the tweet announcing he had tested positive for COVID-19, Young said he is feeling strong and working from home in Alaska.<\/p>\n Gov. Mike Dunleavy, who activated Alaska’s emergency alerts system for cell phones Thursday morning to send Alaskans a YouTube video urging state residents to wear masks and observe mitigation strategies as Alaska’s health care workers are hit harder and harder by the coronavirus, wished Young well.<\/p>\n “I just learned that @repdonyoung has tested positive for #COVID19,” Dunleavy said in a tweet. “Please join Rose & I in praying for his health & a swift recovery. Alaska is with you Don!”<\/p>\n I have tested positive for COVID-19. I am feeling strong, following proper protocols, working from home in Alaska, and ask for privacy at this time.
