The Juneau Gun Club will not hold its annual Turkey Shoot as they support Juneau’s efforts to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, said the president of the club’s board.<\/p>\n
“We canceled it last week due to the city’s restrictions on COVID,” said board of directors president Jerry Godkin in a phone interview. “We thought we’d be a good participant in reducing the spread.”<\/p>\n
Phase 3 restrictions limit the facility to 20 people, Godkin said. The club is hopeful that perhaps a vaccine release will allow for a springtime Easter-themed shooting event. In the meantime, the facility is open two days a week for shooting.<\/p>\n
“The way our trap fields are set up is nine feet so we’re socially distancing anyway,” Godkin said. “We’re asking the public to wear a mask inside.”<\/p>\n
The Juneau Gun Club is open on Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
