The Juneau Affordable Housing Commission will be holding two public meetings at the end of the month to present the city\u2019s Housing Action Plan and to take community input.<\/p>\n
The meetings will be held on March 30 and March 31 from 6-8 p.m. The first meeting will be held in KTOO 360, and the second will be held in the Mendenhall Valley Public Library.<\/p>\n
The Affordable Housing Commission has been working for Housing Action Plan for about two years. The commission hired Virginia-based consulting firm czb to put together a plan to help the city tackle its housing problem. <\/p>\n
\u201cYour market is stuck,\u201d czb\u2019s founder Charles Buki told the Assembly at the end of October when he presented the plan for the first time. \u201cFrom our point of view, we\u2019re pretty clear on that, and it\u2019s been stuck for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n
To fix the stuck market, the plan recommends building almost 2,000 new housing units and preserving 750 existing units during the next 30 years, according to the city press release. <\/p>\n
