CHANGING

BY TERRY LASKEY

My body is changing; I see it every day
My fingers a little knottier and my hair more grey
Where has all my hair gone that once was on my head
My scalp all pink and showing — I feel a little dread
I feel a little stiffer, aches and pains now abound
It isn’t quite as easy now to get up off of the ground
Crows feet accentuate my smiling eyes
And I hold back my faint sad sighs
Do I dislike this new body that I find myself inside?
No, will always love this evolving woman
No matter what I find
There is no perfection, on earth or in the sky
I just embrace what is now and wave the blues goodbye!

I feel timeless
I sense eternity swirling around me
And I smile

WINTER

BY TERRY LASKEY

Now is the time to drift softly into quiet reflective gratitude
Pondering the mysteries of existence and the universe
reminding ourselves that we are but stardust
and this is the great adventure
leading to the next

Terry Laskey writes: I am a professional gardener and call my business The little Gardener. I have been a resident of Juneau for 39 years and love the city and enjoy my clients. When I’m not gardening I am dancing or playing music.
