{"id":6821,"date":"2017-03-27T16:03:51","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T23:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/no-one-injured-in-smith-hall-apartment-fire\/"},"modified":"2017-03-27T16:03:51","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T23:03:51","slug":"no-one-injured-in-smith-hall-apartment-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/no-one-injured-in-smith-hall-apartment-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"No one injured in Smith Hall apartment fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No injuries were reported from a fire at Smith Hall Senior Apartments Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Capital City Fire &#038;Rescue firefighters responded to a fire in an apartment at Smith Hall at 8619 Teal St., just after 6 p.m., CCFR Assistant Chief Ed Quinto said in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>There was an electrical fire in a room on the third floor, Quinto said. A light fixture on the ceiling had started a small fire and the fluorescent light tube fell off the fixture onto the floor. The fire was extinguished by a staff member with a fire extinguisher.<\/p>\n<p>There was smoke in the third floor building hallway and the fire crew ventilated the smoke with a &ldquo;positive pressure fan,&rdquo; which uses uses positive airflow to remove heat and products of combustion from a structure at a fire scene. There was minor fire damage to the ceiling, floor and cabinet, as well as smoke damage in the apartment and third floor building hallway, Quinto said.<\/p>\n<p>No one was injured during the fire and the damage was estimated at $2,000.
