A fundraiser called Pour the Love held by four local breweries in concert with Haines Brewing raised more than $35,000 for the community to the north of Juneau as it recovers from catastrophic landslides late last year.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

A total of $18,000 was raised locally through Alaskan Brewing Company, Barnaby Brewing Company, Devil’s Club Brewing Company, and Forbidden Peak Brewery, the breweries announced in a joint news release.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

The Rasmuson Foundation funds-matched that donation, bringing the total to $36,000, which will go to the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation, the release said. The CVCF is involved in helping the region recover after heavy rains triggered a series of fatal landslides.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

“We are so thankful for the Juneau brewers who ‘poured the love’ for Haines this past month. The generosity of the breweries and those who participated in the event, including our very own Haines Brewing Co., is heartwarming and so very much appreciated.” said CVCF Chair Liz Heywood in the news release.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

With an original goal of $5,000, the fundraiser was an enormous success, the news release said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

“When the program launched in mid-February, it was met with enormous support both locally in Juneau and from other Alaskan cities and beer-lovers alike,” the breweries said in the news release. “Both local sales of Pour the Love Passports and online orders for shirts quickly surged beyond original estimates, and online orders came in from all over Alaska and other states. Program organizers were thrilled and humbled by the generous support from their communities.”<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

The fundraiser had participants take a passport to each of Juneau’s breweries over the course of a month, drinking special beers brewed just for the event. Haines Brewing also had a station at the Hangar on the Wharf and Island Pub for one of their selections.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Those who finished the parade of potent potables are set to receive special shirts designed by Haines artists Celia Bower and Tulsi Zahnow and printed locally at the Aurora Projekt. The shirts, featuring a unique design commemorating the close ties of Juneau and Haines, will ship beginning in April, according to the breweries.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
