{"id":7332,"date":"2016-08-13T03:21:38","date_gmt":"2016-08-13T10:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/mother-gets-7-years-in-jail-after-stabbing-son-with-scissors\/"},"modified":"2016-08-13T03:21:38","modified_gmt":"2016-08-13T10:21:38","slug":"mother-gets-7-years-in-jail-after-stabbing-son-with-scissors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/mother-gets-7-years-in-jail-after-stabbing-son-with-scissors\/","title":{"rendered":"Mother gets 7 years in jail after stabbing son with scissors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014 An Anchorage woman will spend seven years in jail for stabbing her young son in the neck with scissors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktuu.com\/content\/news\/Mother-who-stabbed-3-year-old-son-in-the-neck-sentenced--390036892.html\" target=\"_blank\">KTUU reported<\/a> 42-year-old Tracia Jordan-Sainte received a 15-year sentence, with eight years suspended.<\/p>\n<p>She was originally charged with attempted murder, but pleaded guilty in October to assault.<\/p>\n<p>She attacked her son with scissors in 2014 when they were living in a transitional housing center for the homeless in east Anchorage. Staff members found her 3-year-old boy on the floor, covered in blood.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said Jordan-Sainte had a history of manic-depressive disorder and had stopped taking medication.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say even though the boy has physically recovered, he suffers emotionally.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan-Sainte said she was not in her \u201cright mind,\u201d and told the judge she feels \u201cabsolute remorse and deep sorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014 An Anchorage woman will spend seven years in jail for stabbing her young son in the neck with scissors.
