The Juneau Police Department is investigating the destruction of a mailbox in June, possibly with fireworks or other explosives, according to a news release.<\/p>\n
“On [June 15], a resident in the 11000 block of Glacier Highway reported being woken up in the middle of the night by what sounded like a large firework going off,” wrote Lt. Krag Campbell in the news release. “In the morning, the resident found that their mailbox had been destroyed.”<\/p>\n
Campbell said the resident did not investigate at the time of the disturbance because of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.<\/p>\n
“Pieces of the mailbox could be found up to 150 feet in all directions,” Campbell said. “It is unknown if the mailbox was destroyed by a firework, explosive, or by other means.”<\/p>\n
