This election, we are fortunate to have two excellent candidates running for Assembly Seat 1. It’s not an easy decision, but I’m voting for Paul Kelly. Here’s why.

Kelly has done a great job on our School Board. He has proven his ability to get results. He is also very easy to talk to. He is always kind and respectful; he listens and cares about Juneau. Hes one of the hardest working people I know — he has personally knocked on over 1,300 doors, while being COVID aware. Not easy! He’s done all this while continuing his “regular” job.

From serving on our School Board, to going door-to-door, Kelly is committed. I sometimes wonder whether some in public service really understand that they are public “servants.” Kelly deeply believes in that value.

He has a long list of endorsements, including: Juneau Central Labor Council, AFSCME/ASEA Local 52, Juneau Education Support Staff, Laborers Local 942, and the Inlandboatsmen’s Union. Three years ago, he helped negotiate a better collective bargaining agreement between the state and GGU state employees. Last year he co-chaired a citizen’s committee to advocate for a bond initiative that among other things funds the repair of school roofs.

Kelly is a great choice for Assembly District 1. He will be a strong voice and will be good to work with on our Assembly. Please join me in voting early or in person, for him.

Thank you,
