A Juneau Police Department officer driving a patrol vehicle struck a teenage pedestrian on Mendenhall Loop Road on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
The pedestrian, a 17-year-old girl who police did not publicly identify, was treated for minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, said Lt. Krag Campbell in a news release.<\/p>\n
The officer was taking a left turn from Mendenhall Loop Road onto Valley Boulevard just after 8 p.m., Campbell said. when the collision occured. The pedestrian was crossing the road when the officer driving the patrol car struck her.<\/p>\n
The officer immediately stopped to assist the pedestrian, Campbell said, calling for medical services. Capital City Fire\/Rescue responded, conducting a medical evaluation, but the injuries were not serious, Campbell said.<\/p>\n
The case is under investigation by JPD, Campbell said.<\/p>\n
The Empire has requested dashcam footage of the incident.<\/p>\n
