Juneau’s Seawalk from the Mayor Bill Overstreet Park to Gold Creek received an Excellence on the Waterfront Honor Award from the Waterfront Center, a nonprofit that promotes waterfront development.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
The award will be given at an online ceremony Oct. 25, according to a news release from J.A. Brennan Associates, the Seattle landscape architecture firm that worked on Juneau’s Seawalk.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
“The Downtown Seawalk provides urban residents and office workers with attractive outdoor recreation, including steps to tidelands and the beach. It also relieves downtown street congestion and creates a higher quality water experience for visitors and residents,” the release said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
Inching closer to final results<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t According to the release, judges for the Waterfront Center said the Seawalk is a stunning visual and interpretive experience for Juneau.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t The Waterfront Center will host “Celebrating the Winners” of the 34th Excellence on the Waterfront Awards Program Webinars – October 25-26, 2021, from 1-3 p.m. The ceremony will feature presentations from the winners and short discussions. Free registration is available at center’s website, waterfrontcenter.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t Juneau’s seawalk design team included Juneau-based Tetra Tech Alaska and J.A.
