The remains of a man missing since late September <\/a>were found by a hiker near the Flume Trail on Sunday, said a police spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Douglas Austin Martin Farnsworth, 32, was reported missing Sept. 29, said Juneau Police Department Lt. Krag Campbell.<\/p>\n

A hiker chasing their dog after it ran off the trail encountered human remains about 100 yards up the hill from the Flume Trail near Irwin Street on Sunday afternoon, Campbell said.<\/p>\n

“Currently, at this time, we don’t have any evidence to support anyone causing Douglas Farnsworth’s death,” Campbell said in an email. “Cause of death is unable to be determined at this time due to the length of time the body has been in the woods, which is consistent with the time Farnsworth went missing.”<\/p>\n

The body was dressed consistently with what Farnsworth was reported wearing at the time of his disappearance, Campbell said. There was also a cellphone and a revolver near the body that were believed to be Farnsworth’s, Campbell said.<\/p>\n

The body will go to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for an autopsy, Campbell said. The case is still under investigation by JPD.<\/p>\n
