{"id":8010,"date":"2016-05-22T08:02:42","date_gmt":"2016-05-22T15:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/observatory-lowers-threat-level-for-alaska-volcano\/"},"modified":"2016-05-22T08:02:42","modified_gmt":"2016-05-22T15:02:42","slug":"observatory-lowers-threat-level-for-alaska-volcano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/observatory-lowers-threat-level-for-alaska-volcano\/","title":{"rendered":"Observatory lowers threat level for Alaska volcano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014 The Alaska Volcano Observatory has lowered the threat level for a remote volcano near the Aleutian Islands.<\/p>\n<p>The observatory said eruptions and minor ash emissions that began May 13 at Pavlof Volcano have ended and seismic activity associated with lava effusion is not being detected.<\/p>\n<p>The observatory is lowering the alert level from \u201cwatch\u201d to \u201cadvisory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The observatory said Pavlof remains in a heightened state of unrest and a return to eruptive activity could occur with little or no warning.<\/p>\n<p>Pavlof is about 625 miles southwest of Anchorage. Minor ash emissions were last seen Monday.<\/p>\n<p>On March 27, the volcano sent an ash cloud to 37,000 feet.
