{"id":80599,"date":"2022-01-10T22:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T07:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/police-seek-information-in-sexual-abuse-of-a-minor-case\/"},"modified":"2022-01-10T22:30:00","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T07:30:00","slug":"police-seek-information-in-sexual-abuse-of-a-minor-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/police-seek-information-in-sexual-abuse-of-a-minor-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Police seek information in sexual abuse of a minor case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Juneau Police Department is seeking any information about the activities of a man recently arrested for sexual abuse of a minor.<\/p>\n<p>Walter Joseph Bennett Sr., 72, was indicted on charges of two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor on Dec. 30, 2021, and arrested by Alaska State Troopers the next day on a $100,000 warrant, said Lt. Krag Campbell in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment comes following a nine-month investigation of allegations that Bennett had sexually abused an 11-year-old girl over a period of several years, Campbell said.<\/p>\n<p>Following the indictment, an 18-year-old woman reported being sexually abused by Bennett several years before, Campbell said.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who has information about these or other allegations is asked by the Juneau Police Department to make a report to them a (907)586-0600.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8226; Contact reporter Michael S.
