The Thunder Mountain High School boys basketball team on Sunday held its annual year-end banquet.<\/p>\n
At the banquet, players received individual awards.<\/p>\n
“We will miss the leadership and contributions of our six seniors; Matthew Johns, Wallace Adams, Matthew Hartsock, Isaiah Nelson, Storm Aguirre, and Noah Chambers,” stated coach John Blasco in an email.<\/p>\n
Awards for the junior varsity and varsity teams are as follows:<\/p>\n
Junior varsity<\/strong><\/p>\n Most Improved – Harbor Thomas<\/p>\n Best Rebounder – Landon Farley<\/p>\n Best Passer – TJ Guevarra<\/p>\n Most Hustle – Owen Adams<\/p>\n Best Defense – Anthony Garcia<\/p>\n MVP – TJ Guevarra<\/p>\n Varsity<\/strong><\/p>\n Most Improved – Samuel Lockhart and James Polasky<\/p>\n Best Rebounder – Wallace Adams – 184 rebounds on the season, averaged 7.7 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n Best Passer – Lance Nierra – 55 assists on the season and a 1.72 assist-turnover ratio<\/p>\n Most Hustle – Wallace Adams – led the team with charges drawn<\/p>\n Best Defense – Thomas Baxter – led the team in steals (50) and deflections<\/p>\n MVP – Thomas Baxter – 18.6 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 steals per game.<\/p>\n Coaches Award – Wallace Adams and Matthew Johns – “Both exemplified what it means to be a TM varsity player on and off the court, high GPA, strong leaders, great teammates, positive attitudes and strong work ethic,” Blasco stated.<\/p>\n Records and highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n — Samuel Lockhart set both the single-game 3-point record with eight against Wasilla, and the single-season 3-point record with 81 made on the season.<\/p>\n Team finished 13-12 overall.<\/p>\n —Thomas Baxter earned second team all-state honors from the Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches.<\/p>\n — The Falcons finished with a 13-12 overall record.<\/p>\n • Have results or awards to share?
