{"id":88412,"date":"2022-07-08T22:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-09T06:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/woman-dies-after-being-struck-by-car\/"},"modified":"2022-07-09T17:30:55","modified_gmt":"2022-07-10T01:30:55","slug":"woman-dies-after-being-struck-by-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/woman-dies-after-being-struck-by-car\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman dies after being struck by car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 59-year-old Juneau woman died shortly after midnight Saturday after being struck by a vehicle at Egan Drive and Glacier Highway, <a href=\"https:\/\/juneau.org\/police\/jpd-psa-individual-view\/entry\/85582\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according Juneau Police Department. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>At about 12:16 a.m. police received a call about a pedestrian who was struck by a car at what&rsquo;s commonly called the McNugget Intersection for its proximity to McDonald&rsquo;s and the Nugget Mall, according to police. JPD and Capital City Fire\/Rescue responded to the scene and confirmed the pedestrian was deceased.<\/p>\n<p>The woman was not identified as police have yet to notify her next of kin, according to JPD.<\/p>\n<p>The inbound lane of Egan Drive was closed while police conducted a crash investigation.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, a preliminary investigation found an 18-year-old woman was traveling inbound on Egan at the intersection, and the 59-year-old woman was crossing the inbound lane of Egan when she was struck by the car.<\/p>\n<p>The driver, who police did not identify, stopped at the scene, according to police.
