An Arizona man was arrested on drug charges after a bust in Skagway, according to authorities.<\/p>\n
David Patterson, 25, was arrested Wednesday on charges of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and fifth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, according to Skagway Police Department, which announced the arrest in cooperation with the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs Task Force.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Aug. 4, SEACAD intercepted a suspicious parcel that was on its way to Skagway from Arizona, according to police. After executing a search warrant, police say it was determined the package contained 29 grams of cocaine and 59 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.<\/p>\n
Wednesday, Skagway Police Department officers delivered the package to a PO box in Skagway, according to police, and it was picked up by a 25-year-old man, who was identified as Patterson and took the parcel to a residence on Dyea Road.<\/p>\n
After the package was opened, police arrested the suspect, and he was taken to jail.<\/p>\n
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 19, in Haines, according to the Alaska Court System.<\/p>\n
