A red station wagon is shown submerged in Gastineau Channel at Harris Harbor on Friday afternoon. The driver told an Empire staff member that he had been the designated driver on New Year\u2019s Eve and parked his car at the harbor to sleep but must have not put the transmission in park. He awoke as the car was rolling downhill into the water. The driver was able to safely escape and the car was towed out of the channel by Friday afternoon.
