AT THE ART OF IT

The Rookery Cafe

Kathleen Wayne, along with daughters Nelli, 17, and Anna, 14, open their month-long show. As a way to keep her small children busy and to develop her own love of painting, Kathleen and her daughters started their combined art studio by creating greeting cards. Cards turned into larger drawings and paintings. Kathleen began painting scenes from operas she was in and turned them into thank you cards at the end of the show. Nelli made a habit of always having painting or drawing materials around when she watched TV or listened to music. Many of her drawings were characters from Disney shows or a favorite actor. Anna probably has a more rigid technique than any of the three artists in that she has a specific place in her room where she draws. She likes bold colors and precise geometric design by using Sharpies and rulers.
