Another<\/span> Fourth<\/span> of<\/span> July<\/span> suffering<\/span> through<\/span> eight-10<\/span> hours<\/span> of<\/span> unending<\/span> firework<\/span> displays<\/span> all<\/span> around<\/span> us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do<\/span> I<\/span> have<\/span> rights<\/span> about<\/span> having<\/span> peace<\/span> and<\/span> quiet<\/span> in<\/span> my<\/span> own<\/span> home?<\/span> This<\/span> year<\/span> was<\/span> the<\/span> worst<\/span> I<\/span> remember.<\/span> It<\/span> was<\/span> like<\/span> it<\/span> was<\/span> a<\/span> contest<\/span> to<\/span> see<\/span> who<\/span> could<\/span> blow<\/span> up<\/span> the<\/span> most<\/span> and<\/span> loudest<\/span> all<\/span> night<\/span> long.<\/span> The<\/span> inside<\/span> of<\/span> my<\/span> house<\/span> just<\/span> reeked<\/span> from<\/span> the<\/span> smell<\/span> of<\/span> explosives<\/span> from<\/span> having<\/span> to<\/span> have<\/span> the<\/span> windows<\/span> open<\/span> because<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> heat.<\/span> I<\/span> have<\/span> two<\/span> digs<\/span> that<\/span> are<\/span> just<\/span> terrified<\/span> from<\/span> the<\/span> sounds<\/span> and<\/span> percussions<\/span> we<\/span> have<\/span> to<\/span> listen<\/span> to.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve<\/span> said<\/span> this<\/span> before<\/span> and<\/span> I<\/span> will<\/span> say<\/span> it<\/span> again,<\/span> if<\/span> a<\/span> big<\/span> city<\/span> like<\/span> Anchorage<\/span> can<\/span> ban<\/span> personal<\/span> fireworks,<\/span> Juneau<\/span> should<\/span> be<\/span> able<\/span> to<\/span> do<\/span> it<\/span> too.<\/span> The<\/span> mess<\/span> that’s<\/span> left<\/span> over<\/span> town<\/span> was<\/span> apparent<\/span> yesterday<\/span> as<\/span> we<\/span> walked<\/span> to<\/span> the<\/span> parade.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> city<\/span> of<\/span> Juneau<\/span> puts<\/span> on<\/span> a<\/span> wonderful<\/span> display<\/span> and<\/span> that<\/span> should<\/span> be<\/span> enough!<\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span> just<\/span> dread<\/span> the<\/span> Fourth<\/span> of<\/span> July<\/span> every<\/span> year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Put<\/span> it<\/span> to<\/span> a<\/span> vote<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> public<\/span> whether<\/span> we<\/span> should<\/span> ban<\/span> personal<\/span> use<\/span> of fireworks.<\/span> Let<\/span> the<\/span> people<\/span> of<\/span> Juneau<\/span> decide,<\/span> because<\/span> I<\/span> know<\/span> I<\/span> am<\/span> not<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> minority<\/span> on<\/span> this<\/span> issue.<\/span><\/p>\n
