{"id":94538,"date":"2023-01-15T22:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-16T07:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/dot-seeks-input-on-proposed-summer-ferry-schedule\/"},"modified":"2023-01-15T22:30:00","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T07:30:00","slug":"dot-seeks-input-on-proposed-summer-ferry-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/dot-seeks-input-on-proposed-summer-ferry-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"DOT seeks input on proposed summer ferry schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kennicott and Columbia will both have voyages between Bellingham and major Alaska ports from May through September of this year, according to Alaska Marine Highway System&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/dot.alaska.gov\/amhs\/doc\/service_notices\/2023_summer_considerations.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed summer schedule.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The LeConte is scheduled to stop at Northern Panhandle ports with the Hubbard sailing Lynn Canal six days per week if sufficient crew is available, which would free up the LeConte for additional stops at other villages.<\/p>\n<p>The public has the opportunity to submit written comments about the draft schedule spanning May 1 through Sept. 30, including special requests, to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. The comment period is currently open and runs until Jan. 26. AMHS will hold a public meeting for the Southeast Alaska region on Zoom at 10 a.m. Jan. 27. The meeting can also be attended in person at the AMHS office in Ketchikan.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed schedule includes the Kennicott berthing between Bellingham, Prince Rupert, Juneau and across the Gulf of Alaska to Southwest Alaska three times each month throughout the season.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8226; Contact reporter Clarise Larson at clarise.larson@juneauempire.com or (651)-528-1807.
