Juneau man was arrested on drug charges after a K-9 indicated a suspicious package contained drugs, according to police.<\/p>\n
Buck Robert Mills, 43, was arrested Tuesday on charges of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and for violating conditions of release, according to the Juneau Police Department, which announced the arrest in cooperation with the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs Task Force.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Feb. 11, SEACAD intercepted a suspicious parcel that was shipped to Juneau from Washington. Police were alerted to the parcel’s illegal content after K-9 Buddy indicated there were possibly drugs inside. After executing a search warrant, police say it was determined the package contained 30 grams of heroin, with an estimated street value of approximately $9,000.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Feb. 14, SEACAD delivered the package to its intended destination, a post office box at the Mendenhall Valley Post Office. The package was picked up by a 43-year-old man, who then delivered it to Mills in the 5000 block of Glacier Highway, according to police. Upon the package being opened, SEACAD contacted and arrested mills.<\/p>\n
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, in Juneau, according to the Alaska Court System.<\/p>\n
