You’ve got a chance to make your mark on Southeast Alaska sports history — provided you’ve got some artistic skill and can meet a March 31 deadline.<\/p>\n

The Juneau Lions Club is looking for a logo for its historic 75th Gold Medal Basketball Tournament and submissions are being accepted.<\/p>\n

“We’re just really excited we’ve been around this long,” said Janice Hotch, Juneau Lions Club treasurer, during a short interview on the first day of the 74th tournament. She noted it’s the longest-running Lions Club sports-based fundraiser.<\/p>\n

That longevity distinction applies both nationally and internationally, according to this year’s tournament booklet. Hotch said that since the tournament’s inception it’s only been interrupted by events on the magnitude of a world war or pandemic.<\/p>\n

Submissions for the 75th tournament logo should be submitted by 11:59 p.m. March 31 to juneaulions1917@gmail.com.<\/p>\n

The email should include an EPS file <\/a>of a design and contact information. The maximum resolution for logo designs is 300 dots per inch (DPI), according to organizers.<\/p>\n

In addition to the distinction of providing the milestone tournament a logo, the winner gets a $250 prize.<\/p>\n

Hotch said a judging panel hasn’t yet been solidified. <\/p>\n

She encouraged participants to be creative and said while the tournament’s current logo — which can be seen online at http:\/\/juneaulions.org\/<\/a> — may be a good jumping off point, there are no hard guidelines and she looks forward to seeing what people submit.<\/p>\n

“Really, we’re open to anything,” Hotch said.<\/p>\n
