{"id":98788,"date":"2023-05-07T21:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T05:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/school-board-accepts-teaches-union-contract\/"},"modified":"2023-05-08T16:09:34","modified_gmt":"2023-05-09T00:09:34","slug":"school-board-accepts-teaches-union-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/school-board-accepts-teaches-union-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"School board accepts teachers union contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As anticipated, the Juneau School District Board of Education voted to accept a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1_2pz34tBdvtqz-fPzMmRcnobgOyCMSMQ-_JrjcVA-zs\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three-year contract agreement<\/a> with Juneau Education Association on Friday after a collective bargaining process that lasted for more than a year.<\/p>\n<p>The motion passed unanimously at the board&rsquo;s special meeting Friday. There was no discussion or public comment shared during the short meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The contract, which is now in effect, means union members will receive a gradual pay increase over the contract period &mdash;2% the first year, 2.5% the second and 3.25% the third &mdash; along with &#8203;&#8203;increases to the district&rsquo;s monthly contributions to health premiums.
