A night of local humor and storytelling a sucess

On behalf of the entire NAMI Juneau team, thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our third annual Comedy for a Cause fundraiser. An outpouring of locals joined this special night of local storytelling and as a result, we surpassed our fundraising goal.

The funds raised through Comedy for a Cause will directly benefit the individuals we serve through our free education and support programs related to living with mental illness. These programs empower individuals and their family members to learn more about mental illness, options and strategies to help achieve greater wellness and a community of support to aid in the recovery process.

There are many to thank. First, our phenomenal lineup of local storytellers — Libby Bakalar, Pete Griffin, Geoff Kirsch, Pat McLear, Marcus Blankenship, Paula Rohrbacher and to our wonderful curator and host, Tom Cosgrove. Thank you for inspiring so much laughter throughout the night.

We are grateful to our Champion sponsor, Rainforest Pediatric Care — thank you for continuing to move NAMI Juneau’s mission forward through your generous support.

Thank you to our Benefactor and Sustaining Sponsors: Southeast Radiology Consultants, Juneau Tlingit Haida Community Council, The Skaggs Foundation, Valley Medical Care, Bartlett Regional Hospital, Chatham Electric Inc., Dr. Bruce & Charmaine Weeks, Dr. John and Sara Raster, Dr. Lindy and Colleen Jones, Murray & Associates P.C., Partnership for a Tobacco Free Southeast, Ron’s Apothecary Shoppe and Southeast Radiation Oncology Center.

Thank you to our Supporter Sponsors: AEL&P, Juneau Alliance for Mental Health, Inc., Southeast Psychiatry, Juneau Youth Services, Shattuck & Grummett Insurance, AJ Mine/Gastineau Mill Enterprises, LLC., Benjamin Gilbert, DDS., City Center Chiropractic, Douglas Weaver, DDS, Elgee Rehfeld Mertz, LLC, Family Practice Physicians, Glacier Pediatrics, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547, Jared Lee, DDS, LLC, Jared L Erickson DMD, Western Auto Marine, Kerri Willoughby-Edward Jones, Mark Kelley Photography, NCADD Juneau, Nell Ann Wagoner, MD, Prentice Consulting, Bookkeeping Plus and Southeast Alaska Animal Medical Center.

Thank you to our silent auction donors and in-kind sponsors — Alaskan Brewing Co., Heritage Coffee Roasting and Martha’s Flowers. Special thanks to Gonzo for serving up tasty and creative waffles with a portion of the proceeds donated to NAMI Juneau.

And finally, thank you to the Fundraising Committee that made it possible: Tristan Berkey, Bonnie Chaney, Colleen Jones, Sandi Pahlke, Paula Rohrbacher and to all our wonderful day-of volunteers. We value the help and time you donate to NAMI Juneau.

On behalf of all the performers and volunteers who made the night so wonderful, thank you to the Juneau community for coming out to the event and hope you enjoyed the show!
