The Auke Lake Wayside parking lot and the boat launch are closed for the season beginning today, Oct. 19, according to a release from the City and Borough of Juneau this week.
The Alaska Department of Transportation is beginning the “Glacier Highway Multi-Use Path to UAS” project that constructs a 10-foot wide pathway from Engineer’s Cut-off to the Auke Lake Wayside parking lot. The project also includes paving the wayside parking lot.
In order to facilitate the project, the parking lot will be used for equipment and material staging throughout the winter, the release stated.
The parking lot and the launch ramp will reopen at the conclusion of the project in early June.
The city would like to apologize for any inconvenience.
