“Merchants of Doubt,” the last film in a series of three climate change-focused documentaries, will be shown on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 4:30 p.m. and Monday Nov. 30, at 7 p.m, at the Gold Town Theatre, 171 Shattuck Way.
According to a description of the film, “filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver-tongued pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities – yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change.” The Los Angeles Times described “Merchants of Doubt” as “an enthralling film…as fascinating as it is horrifying.”
The film series is organized by Alaska Climate Action Network, a group of Juneau citizens who came together this past January to work on climate change solutions.
Alaska Climate Action Network meets the first and third Mondays of the month at 5:15 p.m. at Northern Light United Church. For more information see www.alaskaclimateaction.org or call 586-5843.
