Genelle Harlow wed David Massey on Dec. 18, 1965, at College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Alton, Illinois.

Soon after they wed, they moved to Anchorage, where David served at Elmendorf Air Force Base. The couple relocated to Juneau in December of 1970, where they have made their home since. They are both retired employees for the State of Alaska. David has been an active baseball and softball coach for over 45 years, and Genelle has been an avid quilter, member of Beta Sigma Phi and has spent countless volunteer hours in several community organizations, including Chapel By the Lake.

The couple has three daughters and 10 grandchildren: Michelle Meshke and her children Ella and Eamon of Anchorage; Mandy Massey and her children Blake and Gloria of Juneau; and Mindy Barry and her husband Kevin Barry of Sitka, whose children are Matt, Kurt, Kirsten and Kyle of Juneau, and Brayden and Delayna of Sitka.

In celebration of their 50 years of marriage, the couple plans to have a cake at Chapel by the Lake following church services later this month. Their children, spouses, grandchildren and family will be in town to celebrate their anniversary.
