Flute quartet to perform Bach, Queen Nov. 19

The Con Brio Chamber Series presents “Flutatious and Friends,” a concert of chamber music featuring members of the flute quartet “Flutatious” and a few of their friends.

Formed in 2010, Flutatious members include flutists Sandy Fortier, Lisa Ray, Stevi Spinka and Colleen Torrence. In this performance, they will be joined by pianist Sue Kazama, William Todd Hunt on clarinet, Bill Paulick on French horn, Andrew Israelsen on double bass, and many of Juneau’s flutists. This varied program will include music for flute quartet, small ensembles, and large works for flute choir.

Works include the epic “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Freddie Mercury, Bach’s fourth Brandenburg Concerto, Eugene Bozza’s “Jour d’été à la Montagne,” recent works by Eric Ewazen, Michal Rosiak, Japanese composer Rika Ishige, and more.

The concert is Sat., Nov. 19, 7 p.m. at Northern Light United Church.

Admission is free with donations appreciated. A reception will follow the performance.

The Con Brio Chamber Series serves to provide musicians an opportunity to create, perform and share their love of chamber music. Upcoming concerts include “Chamber Music for Lower Brass,” Jan. 21 and 22; and “Music for Harp, Flute and Strings,” April 14 and 15.
