JUNEAU — The Con Brio Chamber Series will perform “For the Love of Music,” a program of chamber music for voice, flute, strings, and piano to benefit Juneau Alaska Music Matters. The program will include the glorious finale from Schubert’s “Trout” quintet and selections by Beethoven, Poulenc, Previn, and more.
Performances are at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Northern Light United Church. A reception will follow each performance.
Admission is free but donations are welcome and go to JAMM, a non-profit music program serving 600 students served in three elementary schools within the Juneau School District.
The performers will include Mark Calvert, tenor; Sophia Butler, violin; Andrew Israelsen, double bass; Meghan Johnson, cello; Kate Kroko, viola; Sally Schlichting, flute; Douglas Smith, piano and Luke Weld, piano.
The Con Brio Chamber Series serves to provide instrumentalists and singers an opportunity to create, perform and share their love of chamber music. Upcoming concerts include: “Flutatious and Friends” on Nov. 19; “Chamber Music for Lower Brass” on Jan. 21 and 22; and “Music for Harp, Flute and Strings” on April 14 and 15.
