Local students make UAS honor rolls

The following students from Juneau, Douglas and Auke Bay were recognized for making the University of Alaska Southeast’s honor rolls for the Fall 2019 semester. Chancellor’s List students achieved a grade point average of 4.0, and Dean’s List students achieved a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99.

Local students make MSU honor rolls

Six students from Juneau made the Montana State University (Bozeman, Montana) honor rolls for fall semester 2019.

Mary Landes earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester were named to the President’s List. Zoe George, Alexandria Hayward, Mikayla May, Brysen Mitchell and Amanda Stevenson made the Dean’s List for grade point averages of 3.5 or above for the semester.

Cassandra Dzinich makes Provost’s Honor Roll

Cassandra Dzinich of Juneau has achieved Provost’s Honor Roll status for the Fall 2019 semester at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. To be named to the list, undergraduate students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.75 or better during the semester.

Michael Mishler named to Dean’s List

Michael Mishler of Juneau was named to the Dean’s List by Dr. Troy Shoemaker, president of Pensacola Christian College, for academic achievement during the 2019 fall semester. This was a result of earning a semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Tlingit & Haida welcomes tribal child support attorney

Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska announced Wednesday that Brent Mulvaney is its new tribal child support attorney. Mulvaney will represent the Tribal Child Support Unit in its interactions with tribal and state courts and work on the implementation and development of law and policy that will best serve the interests of tribal children.

He received a Juris Doctor of Law from Seattle University School of Law in 2019 and holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Washington and Associate of Arts degree in Philosophy from Edmonds Community College.

Mulvaney previously served as a legal intern for the Administrative Law Clinic at the Seattle University School of Law, writer and executive editor for the American Indian Law Journal and judicial clerk for the Tulalip Tribal Court.
