Man of La Mancha rides into town this March
This March “Man of La Mancha” will be coming to the Juneau-Douglas High School stage where the Juneau Lyric Opera will perform the five-time Tony Award winning musical based off the classic novel “Don Quixote” by Cervantes.
“Man of La Mancha” is the story of a dying old man whose impossible dream takes over his mind. Against all odds, Quixote and his trusty squire Sancho take to the road in a quest to chivalry, and seek out the good and innocent in a world filled with darkness and despair. Famous songs such as “It’s All the Same,” “Dulcinea,” “I’m Only Thinking of Him,” and “To Dream The Impossible Dream” will be performed.
Hal Ryder, who directed JLO’s production of Hairspray returns to direct with new stage design by Nathan Rodda, musical direction by Richard Moore and choreography by Becky Engstrom. a
First Friday preview party will take place March 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Baranof Bubble Room where the cast will perform songs from the show.
Performances: March 11, 12, 13 and 18, 19, 20. All shows start at 7:30 p.m. except Sundays. Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 p.m.
