Mauna wins 2017 JAHC juried art show

MAUNA WINS 2017 JAHC JURIED SHOW

ARTIST PUA MAUNA WON “BEST IN SHOW” IN THE JUNEAU ARTS AND HUMANITIES COUNCIL’S 2017 JURIED SHOW, JUDGED BY KETCHIKAN ARTIST EVON ZERBETZ. MAUNA’S WINNING PIECE IS “SOUTHEAST SURRENDER,” OIL AND OIL BARS ON CANVAS. PATTI JOUPPI WON HONORABLE MEN​TION FOR “​INTERTIDAL,” OIL ON CANVAS, AS DID RICK CLAIR WITH​ “​ALEUT HERBALIST,” OIL ON CANVAS.

The JAHC welcomed a total of 27 artists from Juneau, Haines, and Fairbanks. Featured artists are, in alphabetical order: Dianne Anderson, George Buhite, Rick Clair, Katie Craney, Lorie Daniels, Amanda Filori, Dan Fruits, Terri Gallant, Cal Giordano, Jim Heumann, Adelaide Johnson, Timi Johnson, Patti Jouppi, Rachael Juzeler, Jane Lindsey, Pua Maunu, Ray Peck, Magil Pratt, David Riccio, Teri Robus, Takenya Rosetta, Rob Roys, Barbara Shepherd, Jerry Smetzer, Lori Stenberg, Cameron Vance, and Natalie Watson.

The show opened to the public at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 6 and will remain in the JAHC Gallery until mid February. JAHC Gallery hours are Monday – Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Please note that occasionally the gallery is closed for private rentals.
