Wings Airways receives sustainability certification

Juneau-based Wings Airways has been designated an Adventure Green Alaska (AGA) Certified Business, the airline announced Thursday.

AGA is a voluntary certification program of the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) for tourism businesses operating in Alaska that meet standards of economic, environmental and social sustainability.

“The team at Wings is thrilled to receive the AGA certification,” Holly Johnson, President of Wings Airways, said. “With a business focused on the incredible natural beauty surrounding Juneau, we are determined to keep it pristine and sustainable.”

The AGA certification was granted after Wings completed a comprehensive application and review process, including the development of the company’s formal sustainability policy. Wings’ sustainability policy documents its commitment to environmental, economic, social and cultural sustainability. To achieve certification, the company had to illustrate its goals and practices with respect to sustainability and how these are woven into daily operations.
