Rotary Club of Juneau presents Annual Vocational Service Awards

Each year, the Rotary Club of Juneau’s Vocational Service Awards, honor businesses, organizations and individuals who best exemplify these ideals. Nominated both by club members and the community-at-large, the following were honored as this year’s recipients:

— 2023 INDIVIDUAL AWARDEE: Marjorie Menzies’ commitment to social studies education and curriculum, as a teacher in the ’60s and later as an education administrator, is based in instilling a sense of civic duty in Alaska students.

— 2023 BUSINESS AWARDEE: Marc Wheeler opened Coppa in 2013, where for 10 years he provided Juneau with top-notch coffee, ice cream, and pastries, while ardently supporting community programs through donations from his business.

— COLLABORATION AWARDEES: The Financial Reality Fairs’ Sponsors and Organizers, who put on financial awareness events at Juneau’s three high schools for its seniors.

— NON-PROFIT AWARDEE: The Teal Street Center, which will be operated by United Health Services, will soon open its doors as a one-stop shop for those in need of many of Juneau’s social services.

— PUBLIC SERVICE AWARDEE: Juneau’s Legislative Delegation — Sen. Jesse Kiehl, Rep. Sara Hannan and Rep. Andi Story — works tirelessly for the capital city’s residents.
