Every year more than 6,000 people turn the Kenai Peninsula village of Ninilchik into a city during Salmonfest. The three-day weekend features some of Alaska’s top food, crafts, art and brews available available throughout the grounds and a family friendly atmosphere, including a daily children’s program, is part of the four stage extravaganza that includes over 50 acts.
This year’s Salmonfest will run Aug. 5-7 and will feature such groups as the Grammy-winning Indigo Girls, Trampled by Turtles, The Brothers Comatose, Young Dubliners and Dead Winter Carpenters. The full lineup can be found at www.salmonfestalaska.org.
Salmonfest is supported by and benefits The Kachemak Bay Conservation Society with support from Cook Inletkeeper. KBCS is a longstanding Homer-based non-profit organization that seek to educate the public, and both protect and promote Alaska’s fish-filled waters.
