School farm grand opening in Coffman Cove
COFFMAN COVE — The Howard Valentine School in Coffman Cove on Prince of Wales Island will host the grand opening of their school farm from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 27.
The event is sponsored by Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Scotts Miracle Grow, Roots & Shoots, Lowe’s and the Bee Cause. The organizations awarded approximately $9,000 to Howard Valentine School Farm this year through their grant programs.
Everyone is invited, and participants will have the chance to volunteer on the farm, learn about the new bees, admire the fruit trees, watch the chickens and ducks in action, and take a tour of the new aquaponic greenhouse. The event will be wrapped up with a campfire, complete with hotdogs and Alpha XRs.
