Students from Juneau named to dean’s and president’s lists

Two Juneau students — Rielly Iline Walsh and Riley Reed Sikes — were named to the Gonzaga University President’s List for fall semester 2019 for earning a 3.85 to 4.0 GPA. Three students at the same school — Simon Elias Marks, Hanah Cynth Lazo Elizarde, and Sophia Isobel Kaelke —were named to the Dean’s List for the semester for earning a 3.5 to 3.84 GPA.

Erica Hurtte of Juneau was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2019 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Kerstin Kimlinger McAdoo of Juneau made the Dean’s life for the fall 2019 semester at University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and be in good academic standing.

Two Juneau students —Alexis Doutt and Madeline Handley —made the University of Montana’s President’s 4.0 List for the fall semester.

Lillian Haggard from Juneau was named to to Augustana College Dean’s List for the fall semester.

Local high schoolers win scholarships

Three local students have been named Pacific Lutheran University President’s Scholars and awarded the prestigious $33,000 per year President’s Scholarship — with the opportunity to compete for more: Denny Corson and Bridget Gehring from Thunder Mountain High School and Aidan Hopson from Juneau-Douglas High School. Only 103 total students were selected for this top academic and leadership scholarship offered by PLU, a private liberal arts university in Tacoma, Washington.
