Recently the Juneau and Haines communities celebrated the achievement of students participating in AWARE’s Girls on the Run and Boys Run I toowú klatseen programs. We are so proud of the 62 girls and 10 boys who participated in Juneau, and the 11 girls who participated in Haines this season. The 5K was the culmination of 10 weeks of training, and teaches kids that they can set and accomplish challenging goals.

AWARE deeply thanks our amazing volunteer coaches, participants, and parents for another successful season and 5K event. We thank our 5K planning committee and 5K volunteers, including Tom and Michelle Pauser, fitness instructors at Pavitt Health & Fitness for the warm up! We thank Heritage Coffee, Breeze In, Safeway and Costco for providing us with snacks and coffee. We extend our gratitude to Rainforest Pediatrics, Valley Medical Care, and the City and Borough of Juneau for your financial support of Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run in Juneau is partially funded by the citizens of the City and Borough of Juneau through sales tax revenues. Thanks to this generosity, we are able to bring these wonderful programs to youth across Juneau, regardless of ability to pay.

Natalie Watson,

Girls on the Run & Boys Run I toowú klatseen Coordinator for AWARE, Inc.
