Thank you letters for the week of May 23, 2021

Thank you, merci, danke, gracias, gunalchéesh.

Thank you for making the event a success

On May 1 an exciting community event was introduced to Juneau’s families at Overstreet Park in celebration of Spring. This festival featured musical presentations by JAMM (Juneau Alaska Music Matters) students, live drawing of baby goats, chickens, bunnies and a dog named Toaster, egg decorating, balloons, and a large costumed clown and bunny. More than 500 people of all ages enjoyed the festivities, and based on its wild success with visitors, will become an annual spring event highlighting the arts. The sponsors, the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council and the NEW JACC Capital Campaign Committee extend thanks to all who made the whale park come alive with smiling children and youth and happy parents, grandparents and neighbors. It would not have happened without the support of the following individuals and groups

Musical Groups and leaders: JAMM Fiddlers directed by Meghan Johnson and Franz Felkl. Mariachi De Colores directed by Michael Bucy with Bradley Saunders and Missouri Smyth, and Riverbend/JAMM Kindergaten- first grade xylophone players directed by Rebecca Ricker

Animal owners: Hali Duran (Toaster the dog), JDHS Farm Club and Caplan Anderson (bunnies), Marta Lastufka and Michael Bucy (chickens), and Melanie and Ashlyn King (pygmy goats)

Volunteers: Bing Carrillo, Bob Banghart, Bud Carpeneti, Dave Hunsaker, Erin Few, Felix Thilet, Jacque Farnsworth, Jan McPhetres, Jeana Varney, John Pugh, Leonard Johnson, Karen Crane, Kathleen Harper, Kaycie Parady, Melanie White, Nimmy Phillips, Rob Stephenson, Peggy Cowan, Reggie Schapp, Richard Radford, Sally Donaldon, Stephen Blanchett, Sydney Hughes, and Tavish Hunter

Event Sound: Keith Giles

Planning Committee: Annie Calkins, Barb Krehrer, Christy Ciambor, Hali Duran, John Roxburgh, Laura Wanechek, Marjorie Menzi, Mary Wegner, Nancy, DeCherney, Rachelle Bonnett, and Stephanie Hoag

Countless other individuals also contributed to the success of the event. Special thanks to the unknown adult who contributed sandwiches (leftover from his son’s birthday party) for the hungry volunteers at the end of the day.
