TMHS student wins duck stamp competition

Thunder Mountain High School 11th grade exchange student Rosa Annina Hagedorn of Berlin has won “Best in Show” for Alaska in the National Jr. Duck Stamp competition. This is her first painting experience, said teacher Angela Imboden, as Hagedorn doesn’t take art classes in Germany.

She received art supplies, Ducks Unlimited hat and t-shirt, waterfowl guide, Pentax Binoculars, and a $250 money order as her prize.

Other TMHS students also received awards in the competition. Twelfth grader Erin Buhler got first place, as did 10th grader Veronica Salter; Erin Buhler also won first place for the state of Alaska for her conservation message, “Appreciating Nature’s beauty is the first step toward conserving it.” This came with a $50 money order.

Twelfth grader Lacey Honsinger and tenth grader Anthony (Fischer) Rago received second place ribbons and prizes.

German exchange student Rosa Annina Hagedorn, an eleventh grader at TMHS, recently won "Best of Show" in Alaska at the Jr. Duck Stamp Competition with this painting.
