Top rap artist coming to Juneau

Waka Flocka Flame, a chart-topping rap/hip hop artist, is coming to perform in Juneau on Thursday, Dec. 10.

“He’s one of the best rappers out there and his shows are very entertaining. We very seldom get these type of people to come out here and perform — it would be tragedy to miss his performance,” said Lance Mitchell, a Juneau resident helping out with publicity.

“This guy is still on the charts right now, making stuff happen. It’s really cool to have him come here.”

Waka Flocka is also running for president in 2016.

Born in Jamaica and raised in Georgia, Waka Flocka’s first mixtape, featuring the chart-topping “O Let’s Do It,” was “Salute me or Shoot Me;” his second is “Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family,” featuring Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida and Drake, among other well-known artists. He’s worked with Britney Spears and Lil Wayne, among others. He’s been on the Billboard top 10 multiple times. After his Juneau performance, he’ll head on to Anchorage and Fairbanks.

Tickets are $50, or $100 for a limited, VIP booth seat that involves meeting and greeting Waka Flocka.

The performance features DJ WhooKid and opening Canadian Tra/Hip Hop/EDM artists THUGLI.

The show begins at 9 p.m.; doors open at 7 p.m.
