Partners in Healing, April 5, 5:15 p.m., Gold Town Theater. This film discusses the partnership between western medicine and other healing modalities to promote a holistic approach to healing. This film was produced in Alaska by independent filmmaker Mary Katzke. Suggested donation $5-10 at the door.

50th Anniversary of Senator Ted Kennedy’s Speech to the Alaska Democratic Convention, Saturday, April 7, 2-3:30 p.m., Alaska State Museum. The Alaska State Library Historical Collections will host a 50th anniversary screening of rare video footage of Senator Ted Kennedy speaking to the 1968 Alaska Democratic Convention about the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The video screening will be followed by a discussion with UAS Associate Professor of History, Dr. David Noon. Juneau’s Got Talent 2018, Saturday, April 7, 7-9 p.m., JACC. General admission $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Tickets at juneaudance.org, JACC, Hearthside Books, and at the door. Finalist compete for cash prizes. Judges’ and audience’s votes determine the winner. Two votes included when ticket purchased in advance ($1=1 vote) . Proceeds support Juneau Dance Theatre programs and community outreach.

FreeQuency- Spoken Word Poetry, Saturday, April 7, 7:30- 9 p.m., UAS Rec Center. Mwende “FreeQuency” Katwiwa is a 26 year old Kenyan, immigrant, queer womyn speaker and performer. She was a 2017 TEDWomen speaker and was ranked third at the 2015 Individual World Poetry Slam. A local, Juneau poet will be opening for FreeQuency (TBA). This event is free and open to the community.
