Wings Airways, Inc., a locally owned floatplane service, recently purchased a hangar at the Juneau International Airport, according to a Jan. 24 press release from the company.
The purchase means Wings Airways will now have a permanent fixture at the airport, in addition to continuing its floatplane service to the Taku Glacier Lodge from its primary location downtown at the Merchant’s Wharf, the release states.
“We are so excited about this additional footprint in our community,” Wings Airways President Holly Johnson said in a statement. “This opportunity for small business growth fits perfectly with our philosophy on safety, customer service, quality and local pride.”
Since the recent purchase of the former Wings of Alaska hangar, it has been revitalized with new energy and pride of ownership, Johnson said. Under the Wings Airways partnership the hangar has been fully renovated, and will be home to the company’s maintenance and finance departments. In addition, cargo facility space will soon be available for lease.
