Winners of Alaska Symphony of Seafood announced

Alaska Seafood companies win prizes at expo in Seattle

Winners of the Alaska Symphony of Seafood competition were announced Friday at the Pacific Marine Expo in Seattle. The symphony is an annual competition of new food products made from Alaska seafood hosted by the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation.

Winners were announced in three categories as well as a Seattle People’s Choice award. The three categories include Retail, Food Service and Beyond the Plate.

First place in Retail went to Bullwhip Hot Sauce by Barnacle Foods. The Foodservice award went to Alaska Wild Wings, Southern Style by High Liner Foods and first place in Beyond the Plate went to Alaska Fin Fish Earrings from WILD by Nature.

The Seattle People’s Choice award went to Wild Alaska Cod Fish and Chips Meal Kit from Alaska Leader Seafoods.

The Alaska Symphony of Seafood took place on Nov. 22 and contestants were evaluated by a panel of judges which included professional chefs, fisherman, seafood writers and other industry experts, according to a press release from AFDF.

The Seattle People’s Choice competition was held on Nov. 20 at the Seattle Open House. Winners will be awarded free booth space at the Seafood Expo North America in Boston in March 2020. Airfare and other promotional benefits are included in the prize.

All winners, including second and third place winners in all categories will be announced Feb. 24, 2020, at the Symphony Awards Ceremony in Juneau.
