JUNEAU — The public will get a chance to weigh in again on proposed rules that would allow people to smoke or consume marijuana products at authorized retail pot stores in Alaska.
Marijuana regulators tweaked the proposed regulations Friday to include new noticing requirement and call for licensed mechanical engineers to sign off on ventilation plans for stores that would allow smoking.
Alaska stands poised to be the first state among those that have legalized recreational pot to allow people to consume it in authorized stores. But the rules surrounding first must be finalized.
The proposal, as it stands, would allow people to buy marijuana products to smoke, inhale or consume in food in authorized stores and go into a separate area to partake. People could take resealed unused portions with them.
